The Reality of Society

When I initially first read this I felt a strong resonance with this.
Instantly the time when a man I dated and I got arrested came to mind.
We were approached by the officer and the first thing out his mouth was "Y'all want to get arrested tonight?"
We immediately exclaimed "NO!"
Yet with his power, he told us to sit on the curb and proceeded to cuff us.
We were not told what we were being arrested for.
He called for back-up as we were sitting on the curb cuffed.
We were taken to the station, booked and given the option to use a phone that did not work.
Hours later we were released on bail yet when the went to court the following week, the case was instantly dismissed.
Where is my equality?
Where are my rights?
Why are cops trigger happy?
Why do officers believe that their life is more valuable than that of a person of color or with a different way of life than they are accustomed too?
And for the record, no-blue lives do not matter because that movement was only a response to Black Lives Matter.
U.S. Cops kill African Americans.

I may have the privilege of being white and hearing.
But I do not have rights to my own body autonomy.
I do not have the privilege of someone thinking my boyfriend and I are a cute couple.
Interracial relationships where a white woman is with a man of any race besides white makes certain groups of men uncomfortable.

I will never forget the time at a Denny's in Auburn that a man I dated and I were leaving and he was showing me affection next to the car before we left.
Two white men yelled the N-word and said "We just don't really appreciate what y'all got going on here"
I was sick to my stomach.

This is Amerikkka.

Where people claim our society is at a point where we are color-blind.
Yet in 2016 a racist, homophobic, sexist, lying, psychopath becomes president.
Hate crimes rise during his presidency because of people who have been hiding in the shadows with their biased prejudiced views collecting dust in the closet.
Now is the time they grab their hoods, their nooses and their ignorant ideas of what it means to be human and what it means to deserve equality under Law.

I am exhausted from the inequality and overt racism, sexism, homophobia, and audism in our society.
I have always wanted to make a difference.
Something has to change.
Are you with me? Do you want the world to be a more friendly, accepting, non-competitive world?
Or are you going to remain complacent as the world burns?

Your Choice.
