February 26th, 2016. & February 29th, 2016.

I just finished reading a philosophy essay for the next section we are going to cover in class.
It is the philosophy of God.
Now as soon as I found out that we would be discussing God, I was not thrilled.
Based off my past experiences coming from a perspective of having no religious affiliation discussing God with people of a strong faith has never been fun.
For starters they always look down upon people who do not believe. Two they usually try to persuade and convince you.
And third they press their beliefs on you.
A main thing I view wrong with people of a strong faith is how judgmental they are.
I have never read the Bible but I am sure it says something along the lines of "love everyone".
So when I see "devote Christians" at gay pride holding signs saying "God hates you" or "God hates fags" I am disgusted.
Your religion and your beliefs does not make you superior to everyone else.

As I mentioned in my last journal entry the next section in my philosophy class is the philosophy of God.
Today we had some discussion about it.
A girl who believes in God said that God is pretty much her moral compass because she knows what is right and wrong because of the Bible.
This just made me wonder where she thinks people who do not believe in God get their ideas of right and wrong from.
I have never been to church or read the Bible and I do not believe in God.
However I still know what is morally right and wrong.
I do not believe that through church and scriptures are the only way to find out what's right and wrong.
Many people who do go to church and read scriptures do things that are morally wrong, despite knowing they are wrong.
Hating someone, talking down to them because of their beliefs is wrong.
Yet despite the scripture "do to one as you want done to you" is not abided by.
I just feel like many who follow a religion closely hide behind the fact that they are religious makes them better, superior than those who do not follow a religion.
